Hair Advice?

I used to have shoulder hair length. Now, I have texturizer on my hair, because it's short.I did it myself. and it's fine.Sometimes I braid it.I am tired of the braids and would like to do something different like relax it.I am not sure what to do or which salon to go to because the last time I did my hair was damaged to the point where I had to cut every thing of.Can I relax my hair even though it has texturizer? If so Which relaxing product should i use? oh by the way I have the nappy thick black hair prior to texturizer. If a hair dresser can be recommended, can it be somewhere in Alexandria VA? I need your input thanks.

Hair Advice?

You can't put a relaxer on top of a texturizer. You have to grow out the texturizer just like you'd grow out a relaxer. Go to a beautician (I know, it can be scary) and find out what they think you can do. And blackhairmedia.com discussion forums do have a lot of advice about healthy hair growth.

Hair Advice?

Sorry I live in a different neck of the woods. One things for sure though it sounds like a big no-no using a relaxer on texturized hair! I just use the japanese hair straightening system (straightenex) 'cos I've got thick kinky italian hair. Hope I've helped a bit

Hair Advice?

I am not sure about a relaxer. But here are a couple of sites that has tons of great hair information..blackhairmedia, longhaircare and crown and glory technique. It is all about having healthy hair.

I am black with "good" hair, how do I get my hair to grow longer?

I usually go to the hair dresser and get my hair pressed, but the lady has the tendancy to cut more then is needed when she trims my ends. I am not very good with managing my hair but i think I have a better chance I getting it to grow on my own. I have tried a line of products, but I cant use black hair care products for "nappy" hair since my hair isnt coarse.

I am black with "good" hair, how do I get my hair to grow longer?

Get some tea tree oil, snd start wearing it natural. Put the tea tree oil on it when it's natural. It should grow your hair, then press it when it grows back. Black hair isn't nappy it's just thicker.

I am black with "good" hair, how do I get my hair to grow longer?

first of all u shuldnt b so arrogant in sayin "good hair" thats kind of insultin derogatory term anywayz just go to the right stylist and wrap it every night with a thin tooth comb. Report It

I am black with "good" hair, how do I get my hair to grow longer?

I am trying to get my hair to grow longer for my wedding, and i am taking vitamin e. It is helping more that i can tell you, not only is my hair growing like crazy, my nails are too! you should give it a try.

I am black with "good" hair, how do I get my hair to grow longer?

Firstly, there is no such thing as "good" or "bad" hair. There are just a variety of differenct hair types for African hair.

As far as growing your hair, limiting heat is key. You should try wearing a natural look or braids so that your hair can rest from the heat styling.

Also, be sure that you take a multi-vitamin with Iron, Biotin, and Folic Acid. Drink plenty of water and limit stress in your life.

I like to use Ojon products. They work wonders on my hair.

I am black with "good" hair, how do I get my hair to grow longer?

Please oh please stop saying "good" and "nappy" hair. Our African ancestors thought all hair textures were good. Please remember that.

I am black with "good" hair, how do I get my hair to grow longer?

I'm also black, and i don't have a pinch of good hair in me. I've been going to a hair shop for a little over a year now, and my hair has grown about 4 inches longer, and I'm still going every 2 weeks.

I am black with "good" hair, how do I get my hair to grow longer?

Hair grows faster when you trim it, but since you said the lady cuts to much, be overly specific. Tell her exactly what you want and give her a number amount. If this still doesnt work, try someone new. Take a chance.

Good luck! =)

I am black with "good" hair, how do I get my hair to grow longer?

you cant make your hair grow longer at all...the only thing you should do is take these vitamins for hair, nails, and skin...these make it stronger so there is a less possibility from damage and breakage.

I am black with "good" hair, how do I get my hair to grow longer?

HAIR DOES NOT GO FASTER WHEN U TRIM IT ITS GROWING FROM THE ROOTS NOT THE END!! BUT I HAVE HEARD TAKE VITAMIN E

I am black with "good" hair, how do I get my hair to grow longer?

What is "good" hair? Do you mean that you hair is naturally curly and has a soft texture? You can still use productd for black hair, you just don't need the relaxers or products used with relaxers. Getting you hair pressed can be just as damaging as getting relaxers if you are doing it really often. My daughter has naturally curly hair and I used Cream of Nature shampoo and conditioner for her hair and I oil her scalp with Coconut oil. You need to find a good shampoo and conditioner, you will also need to deep condition at least twice month. To recommend a shampoo for you I would really need to see your hair though. Make sure to keep your hair moisturized and get you ends trimmed every 6-8 weeks, if your current hair dresser is cutting to much hair, I suggest you find a need one. I prefer a male hair dresser because they tend to understand the concept of trim more than the female hair dressers, but that's just my opinion. There are a lot of options for natural hair now, and your hair doesn't have to be course to use them.

I am black with "good" hair, how do I get my hair to grow longer?

There is no such thing as "good hair", we all have some sort of issue with our hair....

Try water based oil lotions, I can't use anything heavy either. If your hair isn't coarse it shouldn't be hard to grow long because it doesn't break as much. Try using aloe to moisturize your scalp...cut down on the heat styling, heat causes split ends and that will require more trims.

I'm growing out my hair also.

I am black with "good" hair, how do I get my hair to grow longer?

There are several foods, vitamins, and products that can make your hair growth faster. Hair growth does take time. But, no matter how much hair trauma or slow hair growth you have experienced, your hair can grow at a normal than faster rate. There is no magic potion to hair growth---but, if you look at other cultures, like Native Americans, who only use products from the Earth and eat less foods with preservatives, they rarely encounter hair loss, skin problems, and ailments like we do.

As a stylist, I can tell you that the best way to grow your hair fast is to take care of your hair from the inside out. Assess whether you live an unhealthy lifestyle or use traditional drugstore hair products that contain alcohol and sulfates. If you do, you can potentially be stunting your hair growth. Switch to an all-natural hair growth product and follow the tips below. You will see a difference.

Tip #1: Change your diet.

Increase your intake of proteins. Eat fish, eggs, beans, yogurt, and cheese. Drink a soy protein shake daily.

Tip # 2: Drink plenty of water

6-8 glasses is a must. 8-12 is even better.

Tip #3: Get your vitamins

Take a B Complex, Fish Oil, Vitamin C, and Vitamin E.

Tip #4: Only use an all-natural hair growth or hair thickening shampoos and conditioners

There are several good natural shampoos on the market, such as Aubrey Organics and Giovanni. However, I have used A Double Portion Super Hair Growth Shampoo on my hair loss clients because it is created specifically for hair growth and I have seen substantial results in a matter of month. It is full of hair growth promoting essential oils, sage, cayenne, neem, jojoba, and aloe. For my clients that used it, their hair got thicker, longer, and softer. You can find it online at www.discoverb4a.com. It is great shampoo just for making your hair more manageable and smooth as well.

Tip #5: Place as little heat and chemicals on your hair as possible. No hair coloring please.

Tip #6: Live a stress free life.

Tip #7: Get your blood flowing

Aerobic exercise stimulates blood circulation throughout the entire body, including the scalp. This is important for hair growth. Also, consider massaging your scalp for 5-10 minutes a day with warm olive or coconut oil. It will accentuate your hair growth as well.

I am black with "good" hair, how do I get my hair to grow longer?

i have hair like your if you mean curly hair but you shouldn't really be going around saying that, you can really offend people but i have i site for you

Can I go from nearly Black hair, back to light brown/blonde???

Right, long story! I have naturally 'fair' hair. Goes mousey in winter and slightly golden in summer. I have always highlighted my hair.. but one time, the hair dresser got a bit carried away and put orange through it!?! Don't ask! Anyway, to resolve it, she stripped my hair, twice! As you can imagine, it wasnt good... i had bart simpson yellow hair, with orange streaks! I cried, a lot! Anyway, ended up having to die it dark dark brown.. and well it looks pretty much black! Luckily, I can get away with it, i've darkend my eyebrows etc..however i would really like to go back to a more natural colour. Its been nearly a year and half since my hair was stripped, and ive recently had it cut into a bob. So i think that most of the hair that was stripped will have grown out. Is it possible to go lighter, and if so.. how??!?! Obviously it will need to be done by a hairdresser, but just wondering how they can go about it?!?! I currently dye my hair myself. Thanks!

Can I go from nearly Black hair, back to light brown/blonde???

Well, my mom recently had the same problem. She has black hair and wanted blonde highlights, so we let our neighbor do it.BAD CHOICE.It looked horrible! She even followed a book that she had to tell her what it would look like if she put them in.Well, she had oarnge highlights too.She said she looked horrible. But, after almost half a year it started to blend in.Go to the hair dresser and tell her what happened last time and usually she will try her hardest nont to let that happen again.Hope my advice helps!

Can I go from nearly Black hair, back to light brown/blonde???

You have to bleach your hair. Then color it. Be sure you really want to do it though because it is that way forever, and you will definitely need it done professionally.

Can I go from nearly Black hair, back to light brown/blonde???

Try to find a salon that uses ( don't ask me how it is spelled but) illemonate or something like it. It is not a bleach it just takes the dye color out of your hair so it does't damage your hair.

I want to get my hair colored & permed....?

I want to get my hair colored the same as Drew Barrymoor in 50 first dates %26amp; the same wavy look (is that a perm?). My hair is slightly below shoulder length %26amp; is very thin. I've gotton it colored many times now and it's safe to say my hair is ruined. It has to be conditioned alot to de-tangle it. If i just use shampoo it sticks together and you would have to rip a brush through it. The ends seem to be always be fryed- no matter what, I thought after a haircut they would be fine, but still they are very brittle. But I basically just want my hair one color (blonde) with the wavy look. But is my hair gonna tolerate that? How do you go about having healthier hair? I assume you would have to buzz cut your head and start all over again to have it the way it used to be. If I do decide to get that wavy look like in the movie with the blonde hair... what do I tell my hair dresser? thanks!

I want to get my hair colored %26amp; permed....?

I'm not an expert, but it sounds to me like you should be more concerned with getting your hair healthy. The way you have described the condition of your hair, no perm or coloring job will look anything like the style your trying to achive, you will only cause more damage to your hair. But if you take care of the condition your hair is in first, you can then think about going after the style you want with a happier outcome. Ok so some rules of thumb to live by for hair care is..... DONT use JUST shampoo always use conditioner, remember the roots dont need it as bad as the tips do. The next thing is how you brush your hair, ALWAYS start at the bottom and work your way to the top, never start at the top and NEVER rip the brush threw the tangles that's why the ends are so fryed and brittle. You start at the bottom and gentlely work threw the knots. if the brush get stuck take the hair if your hand and work the tangle out. Since your hair does have some length think about maybe cutting it to about half an inch or inch above your shoulders to get rid of the split brittle ends, if that doesn't get rid of them all then I would try an get it trim 1/2inch every month or month an a half untill you get rid of the damaged ends. Once you have done that you should have hair that is healthy. And if you just HAVE to color your hair (which is very damaging but...) use Clairol Natural Instincts Level 2 its not a Permanent dye (those damage your hair) I had very damaged hair and colored my hair with it, and the condition of my hair was actually better then before I used it. The other great part about it is that it looks much more natural because you don't have the roots showing as your hair grows (I just hate that) and as it gradualy washes out your get great looking highlights, and again NO ROOTS showing. BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY, brush your hair correctly, use conditioner, and get it healthy before you perm it, and until then if you have to dye it do it right!!!!! Hope this helps!

I want to get my hair colored %26amp; permed....?

NO, do not put any chemicals in your hair right now,it will not tolerate it. It sounds like you need to cut more off, I'm not saying cut it really short, but have you thought about a bob, like between your jaw and top of the shoulder. The other thing ,do not use a brush on wet hair.

My destroyed hair!...help.! HOW will i fix it???!?

ok I used to have amazing long thick dark brown hair down to my elbows. Its naturally kinda wavy and poofy so ive been straightening it for years. 4months ago i dyed my hair blonde,(not highlights,a tint, all over blonde bleach) ...now its snapped and its to my shoulders without one single cut! (i loved my long hair!!)....Since then i have to wear extensions and i do love being a blonde with my extensions in and when im all do'd up but now all my roots popping up and are black against the blonde and my hair is falling out in chunks in the shower and every time i brush it and its sooooo thin. ive been crying so much! im too embaressed to go to hair dressers incase they look at it in disgust, chop my hair in a bob or they wont dye it back cuz then it'll snap more!!!Also it will cost a bomb, and I dont know any good hairdressers in Dublin!! HELP!!! I just want long flowy thick hair again... : (

My destroyed hair!...help.! HOW will i fix it???!?

When straightening you hair put a protector in it. Also use shampoo %26amp;%26amp; conditioner that revives damaged hair. When it grows back make sure you dont striaghten it everyday, and also i suggest not doing anything to harmful to it till its completely better. I hoped i helped!!! good luck %26lt;3

My destroyed hair!...help.! HOW will i fix it???!?

Hun, don't be afraid to go to the hair dresser. They won't laugh at you, i promise. They will help you.

Good Luck!

My destroyed hair!...help.! HOW will i fix it???!?

the best thing you can do is dye your hair brown. im sorry but bleached blonde isnt really worth being partially bald. once your hair re-grows (use tons of conditioners, moisturizers, and hot oil treatments/ also using straighteners on your hair everyday or any kind of ceramic heat WILL damage your hair) so yeah as soon as it regrows just get some nice blonde highlights then every now and then you can get more and sooner or later you'll have dirty blonde hair, and to me, that looks 100x better than broken up bleached blonde hair thats totally damaged. good luck.

Can anybody help with hair advice?

A 'friend' recently 'trimmed' my hair. It's always been fairly long and wavy/curly. Impossible to straighten no matter what which was just how I liked it. Nothing against straight hair-just looks shocking on me. Now have chin length hair that I can barely tie back and it's flat and straight regardless of what I try. Have used rollers, tongs.bendy rods, curl enhancing shampoos, conditioners, sprays, gels and creams. nothing works. Feel like blackadder!! Any suggestions welcome.

oh....my 'friend' is a hair dresser and has been cutting/colouring my hair perfectly for over 6 years...just in case you were curious.

Can anybody help with hair advice?

dont be afraid to tell your friend you dont like the way she cut it. ask her if she has any idea of what you cud do!! you cud also try a perm those last a while at least until your next opointment!! goodluck!!!

;-)))))

Can anybody help with hair advice?

ok since you want curly/wavy hair here's what i do cause i have straight hair so after you wash your hair, blow dry for 1 min. or air dry for 3-5 mins. then put lots lots lots of mousse all over your hair, then blow dry completely and start curling hair with a curling iron and every piece of hair you wrap aroudn the iron, count until 20 secs.
